Meet the Founder

Jill Elizabeth Nyznerova is a fashion designer from the Czech Republic whose poetic approach to design fuses art, nature, and sustainability. A graduate of the London College of Fashion, Jill first carved her path in the heart of the fashion capital before returning home to embrace a slower, more intentional lifestyle, growing her own vegetables, raising chickens, and reconnecting deeply with the land that first inspired her.

Her brand, Marcí, is a heartfelt tribute to her mother and a reflection of her belief that fashion can be both exquisite and ethical. Each biodegradable piece is thoughtfully crafted to honour the Earth, merging couture-level beauty with quiet, conscious innovation.

An Interview

WITH JILL ELIZABATH NYZNEROVA

What inspired you to start a sustainable fashion brand, and what does sustainability mean to you in the context of fashion?

"At the London College of Fashion, I saw a gap. High-end fashion was glamorous but often didn’t consider the environment. This got me thinking: Why can't style and sustainability go hand in hand? That's how Marcí was born. Our first collection used natural materials like pineapple and wood fibres, showing that fashion can be both stylish and eco-friendly. As we grow, we're keen to explore more, like incorporating banana fibres. For Marcí, fashion isn’t just about looking good; it's about doing good too. It's a personal mission for a better, more stylish world."

I'm interested in learning about the inspiration behind naming your brand after your mother. Could you elaborate on the special significance it holds for you?

“Certainly. Naming the brand 'Marcí' was my way of honouring my mother. She was my best friend and an incredible source of inspiration. We were incredibly close, and I lost her to breast cancer. When thinking about what to call my brand, I wanted something meaningful. 'Marcí' was the perfect choice. It's a tribute to her love, strength, and the impact she had on my life."

Can you share your long-term vision for the future of your sustainable fashion brand?

"Absolutely. The journey of Marcí, while rooted in the present, has always been forward-looking. Our long-term vision is to be at the forefront of sustainable fashion, blending traditional practices with innovative technological solutions.

A pivotal goal on our horizon is forging partnerships with farmers and companies committed to full transparency in the biodegradation process at the end of a garment's lifecycle. This transparency is vital for our consumers to understand the true impact of our choices.

In line with our progressive approach, we're also eager to integrate 3D and virtual features into our brand. This digital evolution will offer a fresh, immersive experience for our customers, bridging the gap between tactile fashion and the virtual realm.”
